Legal Information

At ADK Peak Bartenders, we want to make sure your event is safe, compliant, and hassle-free. Here’s a breakdown of the key legal considerations when it comes to serving alcohol at your event:

Our Insurance Coverage

We carry General Liability Insurance and Liquor Liability Insurance to ensure that you and your guests are protected during your event. This coverage helps protect against potential accidents or incidents that could occur while alcohol is being served, giving you peace of mind knowing that you’re covered.

Events on Public Property (Rented or Non-Owned Property)

If your event is being held on public property or a rented venue, there are specific requirements you need to follow:

  • Temporary Liquor Permit: You must apply for a One-Day Temporary Liquor Permit from the New York State Liquor Authority (SLA) if you’re serving alcohol at a public property venue. This permit is required for all public or rented properties, whether it’s a barn, park, or another non-private venue.

  • Permit Details:

    • Cost: The permit costs $36.

    • Application Deadline: You must apply for the permit at least 30 days before your event date.

    • Where to Apply: The application can be submitted directly through the New York State Liquor Authority website.

This permit ensures that the alcohol service at your event is legal and compliant with state regulations.

Events on Private Property (Owner’s Property)

If your event is taking place on private property owned by the host (such as your own home or a property you own), the process is simpler:

  • No Liquor Permit Required: A liquor permit is not required as long as the event follows these basic rules:

    • Private Event: The event must be invite-only and not open to the public.

    • No Alcohol Sales: Alcohol cannot be sold at the event — it must be provided for free or as part of a private gathering.

    • No Underage Drinking: You must ensure that all alcohol is only consumed by guests who are 21 years or older. There must be no underage drinking at any time.

As long as these guidelines are followed, and you are providing your own alcohol, you do not need a license or permit for a private property event.

Important Note on Alcohol Service

  • Alcohol Provided by Host: Since your event will be providing its own alcohol, and you are not selling it, no liquor license is required. You are simply hosting a private event and allowing guests to enjoy the drinks you provide.

If you have any questions about these requirements or need assistance with the application process for a permit, feel free to contact us by email at ADKpeakbartenders@gmail.com. We're happy to help ensure your event goes smoothly and remains compliant with all applicable laws.
